If you were a fan of the Blossom show from the early 1990s starring Mayim Bialik, you’ll remember the quirky fashion style of the teenage character she portrayed.
As the only female sharing a household with three hunky males (Whoa!), Blossom always stood out with her floppy hats, droopy knee socks, and pants with suspenders.
Who would have thought that Mayim Bialik (all grown up) would become a victim of the What Not to Wear ambush team of Stacy London and Clinton Kelly? Click the video for a sneak peak of how this hippie mama turns into a hipper mama, as she shifts into a new fashion gear perfectly suited for a busy mother of two moving on to a new phase in life.

A highlight of this episode is Carmindy’s beauty makeover customized perfectly for Mayim’s understated style. First, Carmindy shared these tips for shaping Mayim’s thicker brows:

Has Your Significant Other Been Dipping into Your Bronzer?
Men’s grooming products have been around for years, but the choices have been confined mostly to hair and shaving products. The original Brylcreem (a little dab’ll do ya) was created in the 1920s to keep shiny hair in place. A decade later, Old Spice cologne was introduced with a nautical theme to appeal to the strapping sailor in every man.
Hair and shaving products are still top sellers today, but bronzer is one of the standout products for the growing male cosmetics market. If your guy has been putting on too much mancake lately, show him the ropes when it comes to getting that natural, sporty glow.
First, explain the types of bronzers that are available exclusively for men. Bronzers for men are available in different formulations, from self-tanning gel to powders with brushes. Both suit men because they deposit a natural color and address the skin issues that men face like dryness and irritation.
Since the first long weekend of spring has just rolled around, it’s a good time to remember the importance of avoiding direct exposure to the sun. Not only does it damage your skin, but chronic sun exposure is the single most important risk factor for contracting skin cancer.
If you’re a sun worshipper, you risk getting a lot more than a nasty sunburn. Every year, at least one out of seven people will be diagnosed with a non-life-threatening form of the disease and rates are going up worldwide.
Sun Safety Tips
Even if you’re a nature lover, you can still follow these tips for safe outdoor activities with the latest in UV protection technology:
- Cover up in the sun–Wearing clothes that are loose fitting , tightly woven, and lightweight will protect you from the sun. NOZONE Clothing is a Canadian company that produces sun protective clothing for children and adults with the highest possible rating of Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) 50+. Taking organic beauty to a new level, Carol Alt has developed a raw beauty line called RAW Essentials incorporating pure, nourishing ingredients essential for healthy-looking skin.
The former supermodel and raw food enthusiast launched the collection after making her own products at home for years using nothing but raw ingredients. According to Alt, raw ingredients are better for the complexion because they allow the skin to absorb antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids.
RAW Essentials products use only active, natural, and completely synthetic-free ingredients. This means the products are free of chemicals like petroleum, sulfates, and detergents that may cause cancer. A unique low temperature manufacturing process also guarantees product freshness and retains the balance that is crucial to creating healthy skin. Read the rest of this entry »
Hot off the beauty press is the first and only FDA approved eyelash prescription treatment.
LATISSE™ is a prescription eyelash growth treatment that works gradually, with full results after 16 weeks. The active ingredient in LATISSE is bimatoprost, a compound that lowers eye pressure in people with glaucoma (a disease that may cause vision loss from optic nerve damage if too much pressure builds up in the eye.) According to the LATISSE web site, apply this once-a-day treatment topically to the base of your upper eyelashes and you’ll see changes in length, thickness, and darkness.
There are some side effects, including itchy eyes and eye redness. However, some users found that these irritations went away once they became accustomed to the product. The issue of iris pigmentation (eye color changing to brown) is also circulating the Internet. According to LATISSE clinical trials, eye color change was not reported. However, eye color change has occurred in patients who applied similar medications directly into the eye to treat elevated intraocular pressure/glaucoma.
