Support Project PEP
Jimmy Choo and Elton John AIDS Foundation have launched a photo competition to support the launch of Project PEP, a charity collection including shoes, bags, and other accessories that donates 25% of sales to the Simelela Rape Centre in South Africa. The money goes towards providing the HIV-preventative treatment PEP (which must be taken within 72 hours of exposure to HIV) and counseling rape victims in South Africa, which has the highest count of rape in the world.
Enter the photo competition, You, Your Shoes, and 72 and you could win the grand prize which includes spending a day of luxury at the Jimmy Choo headquarters and choosing seven pairs of shoes and two handbags. Over 100 additional Jimmy Choo prizes will be awarded.
The overall closing date of the competition is December 7th, 2009 at 2 pm GMT. The overall winner will be announced 72 hours after this date, on December 10th.

Anti-aging Wrinkle Cure
Reducing wrinkles may be as simple as drinking a cup of hot tea. Scientists at Kingston University in London recently analyzed the health properties of various plant extracts, including white tea. Research showed that white tea may reduce the risk of developing cancer and rheumatoid arthritis, and help prevent wrinkles.
What They Found
Researchers discovered that white tea had anti-aging capabilities and high levels of powerful antioxidants. As it prevents the activities of the enzymes which break down elastin and collagen, white tea may stop wrinkles that accompany aging. “Elastin supports the body’s natural elasticity which helps lungs, arteries, ligaments and skin to function. It also helps body tissue to repair when you suffer wounds and stops skin from sagging,” said Declan Naughton, a professor at Kingston.
Drinking White Tea
White tea is unprocessed tea. A specialty of the Chinese province of Fujian, it consists of buds and young leaves. The name “white tea” refers to the silver fuzz on the buds that turns white when the tea is dried.
For a richer flavor, use loose leaf teas instead of tea bags. When making tea, pour filtered water over the leaves and steep for about three minutes. Store tea leaves in an airtight container in a cool, dry place to make their short shelf life last longer.

Jake Pavelka is the new star of the Bachelor
Congratulations to Jake Pavelka, the newly announced Bachelor for the show’s upcoming 14th season, as confirmed on tonight’s Dancing with the Stars show.
Jake was one of the three potential choices for the next Bachelor, which included Reid Rosenthal and Kiptyn Locke. Taping for the Bachelor starts in November and premiers in January.
Jake, who works as an Atlantic Southeast Airlines pilot out of Texas, showed his romantic side with Jillian Harris early on in the Bachelorette series, but their chemistry eventually fizzled out. His surprise return to warn Jillian regarding Wes Haydn’s intentions after being voted out was heroic for some, but didn’t go over well with all of the bachelors. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Jillian returns to warn Jake of misguided intentions on the upcoming Bachelor series?
Update: ABC has revealed some of the details regarding The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love starting January 4th, 2010. On the season premiere, expect to see Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski who make a special announcement (wonder what that is?). Also, during the first night’s rose ceremony, Jake will cut 10 women, leaving only 15.

The Bachelor Premiere: Scandal Interrupted

Christina Hendricks, who plays office bombshell Joan Holloway Harris on Mad Men, married Geoffrey Arend in New York this weekend. The couple met earlier this year when they were introduced by Vincent Kartheiser, who plays Pete Campbell on the series.
The bride wore an ivory fils coupe Carolina Herrera gown with a sweetheart neckline. In July, Christina told people.com: “It was the first dress I tried on, and it was magnificent.” Accessories included red satin shoes and gold deco earrings with pearls.
We’re hoping that Christina Hendricks has been busy with her wedding, and that’s the reason why the stylish Joan has not been featured heavily in this season’s episodes of Mad Men. Although it was fun seeing Joan wheel and deal with Pete Campbell as manager of a woman’s department at Bonwit Teller, the best scenario involves Joan returning to work at Sterling Cooper.

Blondes take longer to get ready
Do blondes really have more fun? A recent study by Goody Products® reported by the Telegraph found that blondes take up to six more minutes per day (72 minutes versus 66 minutes) to get ready. The study of 3,000 women also discovered that the average blonde has a better social life, going out three times a month, compared to twice a month for brunettes.
