Red Hot Mittens for 2010 Winter Olympics
Who would have thought that the hottest item in the recently launched 2010 Canadian Olympic team apparel collection would be red mittens designed to match those of the Vancouver 2010 torchbearers? With around 750,000 pairs sold since the beginning of October, eager 2010 Olympic fans will have to wait for the shelves to be restocked as the first nationwide shipments have sold out.
At $10 per pair, the cozy knitted mittens with a white Canadian flag on the palm and the Vancouver 2010 logo on the back have been a huge hit to the surprise of even Mark Kinnin, The Bay’s vice president of Olympics global sourcing and e-retail who noted: “Everybody wants not one pair of red mittens, they want 10 pair of red mittens.”
To accommodate the demand, deliveries have been moved forward and stores are getting the mittens in quickly as they can (more pairs should arrive in stores by the end of the month). The mittens are available at The Bay, Zellers, and Home Outfitter stores as well as Olympic stores in both the Vancouver International Airport and Whistler. Proceeds from sales of the mittens go to the Own the Podium 2010 program to support Canadian Olympic athletes.

Why is it that the these gloves were made in China. If we wanted to show our Canadian pride should we not of had them made in Canada. For this reason i will not be buying any of the Olympic gloves or other clothing.
