Avatar may have won top honors at this year’s Golden Globes awards, but a few makeup trends are sure to make the beauty headlines.

Soft Pale Lips
Red lips are always a classic and added glamor to both Meryl Streep and January Jones of Mad Men. For this year’s award show, a softer pale shade was the clear favorite.

Both Fergie and Heidi Klum wore subtle nude lip shades to accent their bolder eyes. Kate Hudson also showed off frosted pink lips to complement her shimmery eye shadow.

Try out this look with with Lancome Color Design Lip in Pale Lip or Nars Cruising Lipstick.

Winged Eyes
Inspired by the 1960s, winged eye liner and cat’s eye makeup warmed up the vibrant jewel-toned gowns of many of the attendees. Actress Rose Byrne of Damages and Ginnifer Goodwin of Big Love added drama with a smaller winged look created with liquid liner. Singer Leona Lewis looked feline with smoky silver shadow accentuating her grey green eyes.

Try out this look with CoverGirl LineExact Liquid Liner in Black Brown or Lorac Starry-Eyed Baked Eyeshadow Trio in Starlet.

Rose Blush
To beat the winter blahs, rosy cheeks on stars like Mariah Carey warmed up the ballroom at the Beverly Hilton. Creamy rose blush also added a pop of color to the pale complexions of Maggie Gyllenhaal and Nicole Kidman. For the most natural look, apply rose blush to the apples of the cheek, then upwards towards the hairline.

Try out this look with  Maybelline Dream Mousse® Blush in Rose Petal or Stila Convertible Color in Rose.
