Ready, Set, Pack!

Whether you’re heading out for the long weekend or planning an extended getaway, these packing hints will help ensure that you have everything you need (and your clothes stay wrinkle-free).

Go For One Color Scheme

Make it simple and choose clothes in colors that go together. A single color scheme will help you create different looks in just minutes for each occasion of your trip (you can also pick up something new to add to the bunch). It’s also easier to match accessories, like jewelry and belts, when all of the colors work well together.

Function Before Fashion

First came the clog, now the summer’s latest shoe trend is the Wörishofer. Originally designed over 70 years ago, the orthopedic sandal was created by a German podiatrist to help ward off bunions.

According to the Daily Mail, celebrities like Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kirsten Dunst have been spotted wearing the ‘bunion’ shoes currently being sold at trendy boutiques in New York City.

The demi-wedge with a cork sole and leather upper comes in a variety of colors from black to nude shades. You can also find the sandals in a (semi) fashionable two-tone look.

Candid Confession on Slowing Down Aging

Courteney Cox is on the cover of the August issue of InStyle, and she opens up about Botox and getting older.

In the accompanying interview, the Cougar Town actress talks about using the controversial anti-aging topical that softens wrinkles by freezing the muscles that cause them.

“Aging gracefully is one thing, but trying to slow it down is another. Sometimes I use Botox. Compared to most, I use it very sparingly.”

Cox explains why she doesn’t overdo injections: “One time I did too much, though. I feel weird if I can’t move my face, and that one time I overdid it, I felt trapped in my own skin. I don’t have a problem with any of that stuff; if it makes you feel better about yourself and it’s done properly, then fine.”

Mod Collection at QVC & The Shopping Channel

Janie Bryant, the costumer designer for Mad Men, has just made it easier for Joan Holloway and Betty Draper wannabees.

If you love the vintage-inspired style of Mad Men, you can now select pieces from the Mod collection at QVC.

Launched in September, the retro collection includes statement pieces such as faux fur jackets, reversible swing coats, skinny pants, and crystal pendants and pins.

Prices range from around $25 to $140 (US), which probably isn’t much more than the soon to be Mrs. Draper will pay for her twin cashmere sets. Check out photos of the collection at StyleList or a slide show at New York Magazine (gotta love the Retro animal print handbag at $80).
