Clinique Introduces New Sheer Shades to the Almost Lipstick Line-up

Clinique’s Almost Lipstick Swings Both Ways

One of the latest trends in lip color is the move away from sticky gloss and heavy lipstick to a lighter texture that stains the lips naturally.

Clinique has captured this trend with the new sheers in their Almost Lipstick line-up that glide on like lipstick, yet add shine like a gloss.

The collection is based on Clinique’s iconic lip color, Black Honey, a deep raisin shade that first made its  debut in 1971. The shade was so successful (Clinique sells one tube of this cult shade every two minutes), that Black Honey was re-launched as an Almost Lipstick in the late 80’s.

Now the blend of pigments that originally inspired Clinique is available in seven new Almost Lipstick shades in a wide range of pinks, reds, and neutrals.

What makes Almost Lipstick different from other lip color? According to Jenna Menard, Clinique Global Colour Artist, the sheer formula allows you “to experiment with different colors and introduce yourself to shades you’ve never work before.”

For example, if you love the deep reds spotted on the runways and red carpets, be fierce and try Luscious Honey or Chic Honey, which represent the berry shades of the collection. I’m a little red-phobic, but found these shades very wearable.

If you love pink shades, you’ll love the subtlety of Shy Honey (a soft pink). However, Flirty Honey is the big surprise. Although, it looks like a super bright pink, the color is universally flattering and sophisticated. All of the shades allow your own natural lip color to come through, so the color is always custom-fit and uniquely you.

The super-emollient lipstick is also fool-proof to apply which means you can quickly (and discreetly) top up your lip color anywhere you go. Best of all, Almost Lipstick retails for just $18, so you can pick up a couple and customize all of your spring looks.
