Oscars 2012: Red Carpet Beauty Looks

Beauty Risk Takers

The Artist may have sweeped the Oscars last night, but there were still a number of winning beauty looks on this year’s hottest red carpet.

Iconic Red

If you could get past Angelina Jolie’s thigh high slit in an Atelia Versace gown, you may have noticed her coral‑red lips with an updated sheen (there is a lot of critique regarding the infamous slit; check out Joan Rivers’ comments here).

In contrast, Rooney Mara in a white Givenchy lace gown wore matte red lips (with her signature blunt bangs and a looped bun) as did Mila Jovovich who matched her lip color with rosy pink blush.

Neutral Gold

Neutrals dominated the red carpet, but with a golden twist. Gwyneth Paltrow matched her laid back look in a Tom Ford gown with golden eyeshadow and a gold-based lip gloss (NARS Odalisque Larger Than Life Lip Gloss).

Everyone was wondering whether Jennifer Lopez would be escorted by her dancer boyfriend Caspar Smart (never mind her wardrobe malfunction). She arrived alone but brought her A-game with a golden-brown eye shadow and a peachy gold lipgloss which worked with her Zuhair Murad couture gown.

Pretty Pink Tones

Spring is on the way and so are soft pink tones for eyes and lips. Cameron Diaz in a strapless Gucci gown wore metallic gold with pink undertones and matched them with rosy pink lip gloss from Lancome (Rouge in Love Lipcolor in Roses In Love).

Emma Stone wore a Giambattista Valli dress which she offset with a lilac pink shadow, winged eye liner, and a berry pink lip gloss.
