These Two Canadian Beauty Brands are Getting a lot of Buzz

Eco-Friendly and Fashionably Forward

Here’s a shout out to a couple of Canadian makeup lines that beauty junkies everywhere should investigate.

They both offer beauty approaches that reflect the kind of makeup that contemporary women are looking for.

ILIA Beauty

Vancouver-based ILIA Beauty combines the best of organic beauty and fashion. The brand started with Pure Lip Care, a range of six contemporary lip shades, and has now moved into beauty multi-sticks (for eyes, cheeks, and lips).

ILIA is part of a new wave of ethical-sustainable beauty brands with up to 85% certified organic ingredients free of synthetic preservatives, fillers, and petro-chemicals.

Organic ingredients include moisturizing Jojoba oil, Cocoa Butter, and Vitamin E. Natural antioxidants of pomegranate protect lips against daily exposure to free radicals.

The lip and multi-cheek cases are luxurious but don’t let that fool you because they’re made with recycled aluminum.

You can pick up ILIA products online at or drop by BeautyMark in Vancouver to check out the products in person.

Pandora’s Makeup Box

Created by makeup artist, Susan Kirsch, Pandora’s Makeup Box is another up and coming Canadian line featuring pre-made or custom refillable makeup palettes with well-pigmented colors. All of the packaging is environmentally friendly.

Best sellers of the line include Pandora’s Blush with specially formulated check color, Pandora’s Lips (a creamy, non-stick gloss), and Pandora’s Eyelid Primer that starts as a cream and dries into a matte finish.

A new theme for Pandora’s Makeup Box is debuting this week at The Shopping Channel with Spring Blonde, Auburn/Brown, and Dark palettes including lipstick, lip gloss, and blush.

According to Kirsch, the goal of her line is to develop professionally blended products that “provide a fun, simple, yet sophisticated way for women to achieve a professional makeup artistry look.” I love that idea because if you’re a beauty junkie like me, admit it: you’ve always wondered what it would be like to work as a makeup artist.
