Mini Drugstore Makeup Haul

26 May

Happy mid-week, beauties ✨.

Here are a few drugstore products I picked up recently when I was just browsing :). The good news is that I was pleasantly surprised with all of these choices.

Lovatics by Demi Eyeshadow Palette

NYC New York Color Lovatics By Demi Eyeshadow Palette features 12 nude shadows inspired by Demi Lovato’s natural look. Demi is a brand ambassador for NYC New York Color and worked with the brand to develop several products for her Lovatics collection.

The shades in this palette range from warm, neutral shades to cooler shades and have different finishes: from matte to shimmer. The shades are very wearable and have surprisingly good payoff (note that there is a bit of powder dust-up in the pan when you dip the brush into the shadow).

Some beauty bloggers are claiming that this palette is a perfect dupe for the bestselling Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette. Since I don’t have this palette, I can’t confirm this. What I can vouch for is that this palette has a ton ‘o possibilities for under $10.

Rimmel London Supercurler 24HR Volume & Curl Mascara

As a drugstore brand, Rimmel does pretty well with mascara (like the Wonder’Lash mascara with argan oil), so I had to check out their latest curling mascara.

The Supercurler mascara features a formula with built-in lash curling power that lasts for up to 24 hours. It also provides volume and definition for your lashes via an eye-shaped curved fiber brush that lets you get close to the tip for full body volume.

After using it for a few weeks, I’m impressed with its curling ability. If you’re hooked on lash curlers, it won’t give you the same effect but it does come close. You can also build the mascara for a high volume look.

TIP: When using a curling mascara, don’t forget to push your lashes back gently with the mascara brush to create the curl.

COVERGIRL Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation

I have to confess that I’m a mineral powder foundation fan, but I want to stay open for other options. Since there are so many great liquid foundations coming out lately, I thought I should jump back into the liquid foundation game :).

The Ready Set Gorgeous foundation is oil-free and provides medium coverage so that you can even your skin tone and cover up minor imperfections. It’s also designed to fight against shine and won’t clog pores.

I picked up the Classic Ivory shade (there are 12 shades) and found it very easy to blend for a natural look. You won’t get full coverage with this foundation, but it can definitely stand in for a BB cream that you might use over the summer.
