Pump Up Skin Hydration: Clarins New Hydra‑Essentiel

Clarins Hydra-Essential

Towards the end of last year, I attended a luncheon hosted by Clarins to present their Spring 2017 skin care and makeup launches.

Up until now, I’ve had to be “hush-hush” on these products. Since I spotted Clarins’ latest skin care at The Bay in Vancouver, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag.

After looking at the impact of climate on skin hydration, Clarins Research discovered that sudden changes in temperature and humidity (thermal shocks) can impact skin daily.

To address this problem, Clarins Laboratories turned to nature and discovered a plant called organic leaf of life. This amazing plant from Madagascar captured the attention of Clarins because of its succulent leaves, which remain full of water despite the changes in temperatures.

The organic leaf of life extract in Hydra-Essential helps your skin’s capacity to retain water and restore optimal moisturization. On top of that, Hydra-Essential also contains an anti-pollution complex to provide extra protection against indoor and outdoor pollutants.

I had a chance to try out two products in this range that target even the most dehydrated skin:

  • Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum
  • Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream

Hydra-Essentiel Bi-Phase Serum

Bi-Phase Serum has a surprisingly light texture that quickly absorbs into skin without an oily feel. The serum feels soothing and doesn’t have an overly powerful scent. Whether your skin is regularly dehydrated or on the dry side from weather conditions, this serum is like a splash of water on your face as it reactivates hydration and boosts radiance.

In addition to the organic leaf of life extract, the Bi-Phase serum contains other key ingredients:

  • Organic Mary’s thistle oil nourishes the skin with essential fatty acids.
  • Orthosiphon helps reduce the size of pores.
  • Blackdurrant bud provides soothing properties for the skin.

Clarins recommends applying the serum morning and/or night by gently pressing down on your skin, then working from the middle of the face outward.

Hydra-Essentiel Silky Cream

Once you apply the Bi-Phase Serum, you can dial up even more skin hydration by combining it with a Hydra-Essentiel cream suitable for your skin type (either Silky, Rich, or Cooling Gel).

I tried the Silky Cream which has a fine, smooth texture that easily melts into the skin. This cream, which you can apply morning and/or night, intensely moisturizes skin so it immediately feels super quenched.

Whether you wear Hydra-Essentiel under makeup or apply it for a radiant boost, this duo can be one of your best bests against daily skin dehydration from cold, heat, pollution, or just straight up aging.

If you go to the Clarins counter at the Bay, you can get a decent size sample of the serum and see if it works for you. I’m lovng it so far.
