Benefit They're Real! Big Sexy Eye Kit

Hi beauties! I started the year determined to control my makeup shopping, but I’ve already been giving in to temptation.

One of my latest purchases is the Benefit They’re Real! BIG Sexy Eye Kit. I picked up this kit because I was looking for every day neutrals and I wanted to check out the ShadowBlender tool.

What’s in the Kit

The eye kit contains three paired eyeshadow duos in matching light/dark shades with a formula designed to last 12 “budge-proof” hours. The shadows, which are softly pigmented, come in satin and matte finishes:

  • Beyond Nude: champagne (satin) and cappuccino (soft matte)
  • Naughty Neutral: soft pink (satin) and rosy brown (satin)
  • Bombshell Brown: taupe (soft matte) and sable brown (soft matte)

To apply the shadows, the kit also contains the ShadowBlender eyeshadow applicator. This blender, with a rounded sponge and a small handle, is unlike anything I’ve ever used before. Although it’s a little tricky at first, it works really quickly for a contoured look once you get the hang of it.

Using the ShadowBlender

To use the blender, you slide it across the eyeshadow pan then sweep it across the lid, starting in the inner corner. For an every day look, I positioned the applicator so that the lighter color went on the lid and the darker shade fit into the crease in one sweep!

You can also swipe the blender in different ways to get other looks. For example, for a more smoky look, apply the darker shade on the lid then blend in the lighter color into the center of the lid.

At $48 (CDN), this kit isn’t cheap. However, you do get six shadows and an on-the-go tool to apply them, so this Benefit eye kit is a keeper. 💕

If you want to try just one of the duos, you can get them separately now; you can also get a pack of the ShadowBlender applicators.

What a useful kit! I like ombre shades like these – very useful for travelling. That applicator looks “interesting”! 😛

The colors are nice and basic to have in this palette. However i was not a huge fan of the applicator. I am used to apply shadows wuth my regular brushes more.

Yes, the applicator is tricky and takes a bit of practice. It’s good for a quick contoured eye, if you like a light shade on the lid and a dark one in the crease.
