Favorite Lip Plumping Gloss

Favorite Lip Plumping Glosses

I like the idea of aging gracefully, but a little boost from lip plumping gloss doesn’t hurt.

Lip plumpers won’t augment your lips like injections, but they do add subtle volume without making your lips look like you just filmed a Real Housewives episode.

NYX Pump It Up Lip Plumper

This lip plumping gloss has the typical tingly sensation, but a little milder than most lip plumpers. The shimmery formula, which contains a special peptide called Maxi-Lip, is on the sticky side which may be a turn off for some people.

Each of the shades of lip plumper is named after a celebrity with fuller lips (the shade I picked up is called Pamela).

I found a slight plumping action with this lip plumping gloss. It also makes my lips look smoother when I wear this gloss over lipstick.

Too Faced Lip Injection

This lip plumper, which is one of the first plumpers on the lip plumping gloss scene, is the mother of all lip plumpers.

The subtle pink gloss with a fruity scent creates volume that lasts up to four hours.

The ingredients in this plumper, like Avocado oil, treat your lips and make them appear 20% plumper (I’ll take it). The tingling sensation only lasts for around 10 minutes and then you get decent plumping action (with more color to your lips).

Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss

With its hydrating formula, this Dior lip plumper lets you gloss, moisturize, and plump your lips. The formula contains hyaluronic acid spheres that help retain moisture so lips have a slightly more plump look. If you don’t like tingling lips, this gloss may work for you.

The wand features a brush applicator, which helps to deposit just the right dose for an even and smooth application. The formula isn’t overly thick or sticky. It’s on the fine side and is quite comfortable to wear.

I picked up the gloss in Fantasie (257), a neutral iridescent shade that I can wear alone or over just about any lip color.

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream

I’ve been using this lip plumping gloss for years, especially the nude White Russian shade which is one of my favorites.

This creamy gloss creates a tingling, plumping effect that doesn’t burn. It also contains encapsulated hyaluronic spheres that infuse lips with moisture and vitamins A and E to help keep them supple.

If you don’t mind scented lip gloss, this Buxom lip cream also has a subtle vanilla scent.

Do you have a favorite lip plumping gloss? I’d love to know. 💕

Beauty Event: New NYX Professional Makeup Store Celebration

12 Apr

Hi beauties!

I was very lucky to receive an invitation to an NYX Cosmetics party last week to celebrate the opening of their professional makeup store in Metrown mall in Burnaby (a suburb close to Vancouver, BC).

It was a fun evening with fellow bloggers and local media checking out makeup, food, and fashion (the dress code was afer prom).

On the menu, NYX served up sweet and savory waffles, poutine, and assorted candy (I tried to resist, but the strawberry licorice was so good).

The decor for the party was what you’d expect from NYX with life-size tubes of Lip Lingerie and a photo station, where we could pose with our favorite shade of lip gloss.

Everyone was super excited that the Vancouver area is finally getting an NYX professional makeup store. Sometimes Vancouver is on the slow side, when it comes to retail, because of the high cost of real estate.

NYX was also kind enough to give us a goodie bag with some of their latest launches, including;

I can’t wait to write about these NYX products in the future! Even better, I can pick up NYX latest releases in person. 💕

Still on Trend: Ombré Blush

NYX Ombre Blush

Hi beauties!

Have you noticed that ombré makeup is still trending with recent launches like Dior’s Colour Gradation and Givenchy’s Ombre Courture Cream Eyeshadows?

Ombré makeup is popular because it lets you add depth and dimension with a single product . . . and it’s not overly complicated.

If you’re not quite ready for ombré lips or eyes, blush is a good way to dip into ombré makeup.

Ombré blushes, like NYX Ombré Blush, feature two colors blended into a shade combination that can be used as a blush and highlighter. So, the results are a flush of color plus soft luminosity.

TIP: Generally, ombré blushes are bold, pigmented blushes (some with shimmer) so they require a lighter touch.

The shade that I’ve been using from the NYX Ombre Blush collection is called Sweet Spring. It’s a blue toned pink on the top that blends into a peachy pink.
