Perform on Stage with the Babes4Breasts Group
If you can carry a tune and live in the Ottawa area, you can join the fight against breast cancer.
The Be a Babe contest offers budding musicians (12 years of age and older) an opportunity to perform on stage with the Babes4Breasts group as they continue to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
If you’re a potential “Babe,” all you need to do is upload your best acoustic/acapella video to the St. Laurent Facebook Page at www.beababe.ca by September 30, 2012. You then have between October 1 and October 7, 2012 to encourage everyone you know to vote for your page. The best part: every online vote triggers a $5 donation by the St. Laurent Centre to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
Have you been looking for the perfect peachy pink nude lip gloss?
There are a lot of contenders on beauty counters like the cult classic NARS lip gloss. I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to lay down $30 for a lip gloss.
I’ve recently struck gold (or pink nude gold) with the NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss.
The NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss has just the right amount of shine to deliver lasting color. The finish is creamy with enough moisture to not dry out your lips.

Universal and Classic Look
Dior always sets the bar with holiday palettes, and this year is no different.
The Holiday Eye Palette – Celebration Collection is not your average eye palette.
Inspired by Dior couture collections of the past, the eye palette comes in a gray tweed colored case with an iconic bow and dangling charm.
The palette contains a smoky brown and beige range of pigmented eye shadows, cream eyeliner, and highlighter. It also includes a mini-double-ended liner brush/shadow applicator and a mirror on the inside of the cover.
Sensitive Facial Cleanser with Cotton Extract
Burt’s Bees has introduced a new skincare line called Sensitive Skin Solutions.
This sensitive range of products is timely because many people experience more sensitivity during the harsh winter weather (if you live on the east coast and are coping with the historic October snowstorm, listen up).
Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleanser contains natural ingredients to help your skin look moist and healthy. The most unique ingredient is cotton extract to fight dryness and soften your skin. It also helps skin replenish its outer later, protecting it from potential irritants. To moisturize and soothe skin, the formula also contains rice extract and Aloe.
Check Out These Beauty Apps (In Honor of Steve Jobs)
Sadly, Steve Jobs has lost his fight with pancreatic cancer (also called the silent killer, because early pancreatic cancer often does not cause symptoms).
It’s a tragic loss for technology diehards and those of us who are familiar with the intense suffering this cancer causes (I lost my beautiful mother to pancreatic cancer this past June).
If you love beauty and fashion, you can thank Steve Jobs for all the cool apps you can now download to Apple devices.

Are You a Joan or a Peggy?
Mad Men may have been off the air for almost a year, but that hasn’t stopped fans from wanting to recreate the vintage looks of leading characters like Joan Harris and Don Draper.
The Mad Men collection, available in Banana Republic stores and online starting this month, includes 65 items created as a contemporary collaboration between the store and Janie Bryant, Mad Men’s costume designer. Bryant also has designed another line of 60s-inspired clothing (called Mod) for QVC and The Shopping Channel.
Upcoming MAC Collections for End of Summer
If you thought you were caught up with all the new MAC products, you may have to dig deeper into your makeup allowance.
MAC has new additions available in August that will become part of the permanent collection.
Seasonally Supreme gets its inspiration from Far East cities like Tokyo, Seoul, and Shanghai. The new collection called Sheen Supreme includes a palette of twelve cream-or-frost-finished shades that incorporate the region’s colour preferences fusing together Lipglass’ high-shine finish with the saturated colour of a Lipstick (check out swatches here). Seasonally Supreme is available August 4, 2011 in the permanent collection.
Love is a Battlefield
Everyone is shocked about the crash and burn riot that took place in Vancouver this week after the last game of this year’s Stanley Cup finals.
But, there’s a lighter side to the destruction created by a roaming band of masked activists in downtown Vancouver.
Getting more attention than the Vancouver sky line with smoke rising above the mountains is a photo of an embracing couple on the ground as the Vancouver’s riot police moved in on the crowd.
Who doesn’t love a beauty multi-tasker, especially in the summer when you’d rather be enjoying the outdoors rather than touching up your makeup.
MAC Prep + Prime Beauty Balm is the perfect go to product whether you’re looking for a colour perfector, face primer, UV protector, or hydrator.
Just apply the lightly tinted beauty balm to your skin before foundation for enhanced wear throughout the day.
