Next Generation: Clarins Double Serum

12 Sep

Hi beauties! I hope you’re enjoying the fall so far. 🍂

Earlier this year, I attended a Clarins beauty event to introduce the next generation of Clarins’ Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate.

This serum, which has been around since 1985, continuously ranks as one of the best-selling anti-aging serums due to its double formula with water-soluble (hydric) and oil-soluble (lipidic) plant ingredients.

What’s new about this version of Double Serum? Clarins has added new ingredients to the formula and created a new delivery system for the 8th edition of the serum.

Bio-inspired Formula

Double Serum contains over 20 powerful plant extracts (including white tea and avocado) that mix together to stimulate the skin’s vital functions like nutrition, oxygenation, and protection. Among the plants, nine are organic and three come from fair trade.

The new generation of Double Serum now includes teasel extract to minimize the look of fine lines and organic leaf of life extract to boost skin hydration. But the star ingredient in this version of Double Serum is turmeric (yes, that’s a container of delicious turmeric in the photo).

You may already be spicing up your cooking with turmeric. The plant extract, called turmerone, improves cell communication in the skin for added radiance.

Double-Pump System

It’s always good to see beauty brands designing products so that we get the right dose for maximum product efficacy. The updated dual-chamber bottle lets you twist the top to release either a larger or a smaller drop, each containing the perfect ratio of both hydric and lipidic component.

If you have oily skin, for example, or want to use less during the day, switch the dial to the smaller drop. If you have dry skin or want to amp up the serum at night, turn the dial to the larger drop.

I’ve been using the serum, which is an amber-colored oil and gel mix, twice a day and it penetrates quickly without feeling greasy. I’m even more excited with the results, which so far include better hydration and fresher more radiant-looking skin. 💕

SkinCeuticals Hydrating Masks and Gel

SkinCeuticals Hydrating Masks and Gel

Last week, I was fortunate to attend a Gala Opening of the SkinCeuticals by Project MD boutique in Richmond, BC (a suburb of Vancouver).

At this new concept boutique, you can pop in for an express facial or LED light therapy, or pick up your favorite SkinCeuticals products.

As part of the experience, bloggers and media received a goodie bag with SkinCeuticals hydrating masks and gel.

Since the past few weeks have been on the stressful side (family and work obligations overload), I’ve been taking a break by sampling the masks and gel.

Phyto Corrective Masque

This cooling gel mask is designed to reduce redness and discomfort. With its botanical extracts and hyaluronic acid, it acts as a calming mask to restore smoothness.

Even if you don’t suffer from redness, this green mask is refreshing and light. I know I’ll be using this mask regularly in warmer weather or when my skin is showing signs of sensitivity.

What’s also unique about the Phyto Corrective Masque is that it can be used in multiple ways either as a leave-on, rinse-off, or overnight treatment for the face, chest, or neck. You can use it 2-3 times a week or as needed.

Clarifying Clay Masque

Remember the old-fashioned clay masks that were so drying, they cracked on your face.

The Clarifying Clay Masque, which combines kaolin and bentonite, is a non-drying mask (phew!). The clay in the mask decongests the skin and lifts impurities, while a hydroxy acid blend gently exfoliates.

Unlike other clay masks I’ve used, I found the Clarifying Clay Masque easy to remove. It also left my skin softer and smoother.

If you suffer from any type of breakouts, using this mask once a week purifies the skin of excess oils leading to more refined pores.

Hydrating B5 Gel

After removing the masks, SkinCeuticals recommends following up with a moisture-enhancing serum, like the Hydrating B5 Gel.

This serum, which is enriched with vitamin B5, also contains hyaluronic acid to help bind moisture to the skin. What I like about the serum is that it provides hydration without clogging pores. It also enhances the benefits of your daily moisturizer!

If you live in the area, drop by the Professional Glow Room in the CF Richmond Centre for advanced professional skincare followed by some therapeutic shopping! 🛍️

Pump Up Skin Hydration: Clarins New Hydra‑Essentiel

Clarins Hydra-Essential

Towards the end of last year, I attended a luncheon hosted by Clarins to present their Spring 2017 skin care and makeup launches.

Up until now, I’ve had to be “hush-hush” on these products. Since I spotted Clarins’ latest skin care at The Bay in Vancouver, it’s time to let the cat out of the bag.

Hydra-Essentiel

After looking at the impact of climate on skin hydration, Clarins Research discovered that sudden changes in temperature and humidity (thermal shocks) can impact skin daily.

To address this problem, Clarins Laboratories turned to nature and discovered a plant called organic leaf of life. This amazing plant from Madagascar captured the attention of Clarins because of its succulent leaves, which remain full of water despite the changes in temperatures.

The organic leaf of life extract in Hydra-Essential helps your skin’s capacity to retain water and restore optimal moisturization. On top of that, Hydra-Essential also contains an anti-pollution complex to provide extra protection against indoor and outdoor pollutants.
