Clarins Extra-Firming Day and Night Cream

Hi beauties!

If you’ve been looking for a skincare duo that targets the first signs of aging, Clarins has reformulated their Extra-Firming Range with a new day and night cream (I was lucky to get a sneak peek a couple of months ago.)

Here are a few details that make this firming duo unique:

  • The main active ingredient in the formula is the extract of kangaroo flower. This newly discovered extract helps to fight the appearance of skin slackening and leaves skin looking plumper (yes!)
  • The creams are available in two formulations: one for all skin types and the other for dry skin.

Extra-Firming Jour (Day)

This day cream has a silky, melting texture designed to provide an immediate smoothing effect. Besides the extract of kangaroo flower, it contains oat sugar to lift the look of skin and Leaf Of Life Extract to moisturize and provide radiance. The formula also includes Clarins’ Anti-Pollution Complex to protect against pollution.

The best way to use the cream is to first warm the cream in your hands. After placing the cream on your face and neck, massage it into the skin starting from the middle of the face and working toward the sides.

Extra-Firming Nuit (Night)

This night cream, which also has a melting texture, does the heavy lifting while you sleep . . . when cellular renewal is at its peak. Besides the extract of kangaroo flower and the Leaf of Life Extract, the night cream also contains Organic Desert Date Extract that targets dark spots to even skin tone.

You apply the cream in the same way as the day cream: by placing/massaging the cream starting from the middle of the face and working toward the sides.

Both of the creams have a light fragrance with notes of rose and camellia, which also feels refreshing on the skin.

If you’re into chic packaging, both creams come in a frosted coral-colored jar with a gold lid. 🌟

Spring Makeup: Clarins 4‑Colour Eyeshadow Palette (Lovely Rose)

19 Mar

Hi beauties!

The last few days in Vancouver have been packed with sunshine. 🌞 The cherry blossom trees are also getting ready to bloom, so spring is definitely on its way!

What better way to celebrate a new season than to switch up your eye makeup!

Usually, spring shades trend toward pastels and lighter shades. Not this year: bold, colourful shades are everywhere.

The Clarins 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Lovely Rose is definitely a quad with a pop of colour. I posted this photo on Instagram and the love for these shades was unanimous (thanks everyone!).

The shades in this palette range from light pink to deep purple in a combination of iridescent, matte, and satin finishes. Here are the shades (from left to right):

  • Pink Pearl
  • Coral
  • Mauve Pink
  • Deep Plum

If you don’t have one of the Clarins 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palettes, they’re always a good investment. Enriched with mineral pigments, the gentle formula contains carnauba powder to help make the eyeshadow comfortable to wear. The gold case palette comes in a signature red velvet sleeve with Clarins embossed on the front.

Overall, the real “beauty” of this palette is that Clarins’ eyeshadow quads can be applied in different ways:

  • For a natural look, apply the eyeshadow dry.
  • For a bold “pink” payoff, build up the intensity or apply the colors wet.

Happy spring, everyone!

KORRES Black Pine 3D Sculpting & Firming Sleeping Oil

23 Feb

Hi beauties!

I’ve been super busy with work lately, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been experimenting with new skincare.

I watched a demo of a few products from the KORRES Black Pine line and was so impressed, I had to check it out for myself.

If you’re not familiar with the KORRES brand, their products are steeped in Greek tradition and contain plant extracts and essential oils. The Black Pine collection features the anti-aging and hydrating Black Pine plant, which has thrived in the Mediterranean through the harshest weather conditions for thousands of years.

According to a study by KORRES, overnight beauty treatments are the most ideal time to treat skin and support skin’s natural renewal and replenishment functions.

With that in mind, I picked up the 3D Sculpting & Firming Sleeping Oil which contains five other oils (cold-pressed jojoba, grape-seed, organic cold-pressed argan, apricot, and cold-pressed sweet-almond oils (moisturizers), soybean and wild-yam complex (to increase lipid production), and vitamin C (to brighten skin).

This ultra-concentrated overnight oil feels incredibly rich and luxurious, but not greasy. All you do is gently massage a few drops into a cleansed face and neck a few hours before shuteye and let it sink in before you climb into bed (you can also cocktail the oil with a night cream for maximum benefits). There is a subtle, earthy scent to this oil, but it’s very calming.

The oil works through the night, and even if I toss and turn, I wake up with moisturized and plump skin. Now, I have even more reasons to catch up on sleep 💤 (goodnight, Netflix).

The Black Pine collection also includes a day cream, night cream, detoxifying mineral bar, serum, and eye cream. KORRES products are free of mineral oil, silicones, parabens, propalene glycol, ethanolamines, and animal testing.
