Holiday Haircare: Conair mini PRO Straightening Brush

27 Nov

Conair Mini Pro Straightening Brush

Hi beauties!

During the holiday season, one of the last things anyone wants to worry about is their hair.

Since I live in Vancouver and wear my hair straight, there’s no way I can avoid using some type of straightener.

On wet days (especially in November and December), even my rainproof strategy of hat/hoodie/umbrella doesn’t work.

For straightening on the go, nothing beats a compact straightening tool so I was really excited to try the Conair mini PRO Straightening Brush.

After experimenting with this compact straightening brush, I found I was able to use it in a couple of ways based on how I placed the brush:

  • Placing the brush underneath a hair section straightens hair and adds shape to the ends.
  • Placing the brush on top of the hair smooths and finishes the style.

Here are more details about the Conair mini PRO Straightening Brush:

  • Fast heat up and high heat (I use heat-resistant gloves to avoid burns)
  • Ceramic coated paddle and ceramic bristles that retain heat
  • Swivel line cord
  • Dual voltage (for international travel)

Whether you’re staying in town or travelling during the holidays, this quick heating straightening brush will give you plenty of time to enjoy the holidays frizz-free!

Easy Summer Haircare: Infusium23 Repair & Renew Collection

6 Jul

Hi beauties! Do you change your haircare routine for the summer?

During the summer, I like to give my hair a break from heat styling tools (my blow dryer and flat iron can use a breather, too). Since my hair is highlighted, it can turn nasty due to humidity and high temperatures.

I recently had a chance to try out three products in the Infusium 23 Repair & Renew collection. This easy-to-use trio features keratin to fortify hair and argan oil to prevent damage.

Infusium 23 Repair & Renew Shampoo

The Repair & Renew Shampoo is designed to strengthen hair, while diminishing the damaging effects of the past. The formula contains provitamins, proteins, and amino acids to make hair more resilient and renew troubled hair.

Nourishing hair cuticles from root to tip, this shampoo minimizes future breakage by removing residue and build-up. Getting rid of product build-up just may be the reason my hair looked smooth and had a lot of body after using this shampoo.

Tip: When shampooing your hair, focus on cleansing the scalp first, rubbing in circular motions with the pads of your fingers (not the nails) and letting the motion of the water work suds down the length of your hair. Try to avoid piling your hair on the top of your head or rubbing shampoo into your ends.

Infusium 23 Repair & Renew Conditioner

After shampooing my hair, I usually apply conditioner to the ends of my hair. The Repair & Renew Conditioner is very silky so you just need a minimal amount to take advantage of the  i-23 Complex to recharge, renew, and treat dull, damaged hair (amen!).

Infusium 23 Repair & Renew Leave-in Treatment

The Repair & Renew Leave-in Treatment is designed to improve the quality of hair over time. Since I’ve previously used an Infusium 23 Leave-in Treatment for color-treated hair and liked it, I knew this would be my favorite product in the collection (and it is). This light mist, which you can use every day, also helps detangle wet or dry hair.

In Canada, you can find Infusium23 at most retailers. For summer 2017, Infusium23 is offering a special bonus size in the Repair & Renew Shampoo and Conditioners with 35% more value and $1 off any purchase until July 31, 2017; check out more here.

You may have noticed that I included a couple of hair slinkies in the photo. I’m so happy I was introduced to this hair tie (I wish I would have thought of this). They don’t dent or tangle your hair, or create breakage!

Multitasking Haircare: PARLOR by Jeff Chastain

23 Oct

Parlor by Jeff Chastain

Jeff Chastain is a NYC celebrity hairstylist with over 14 years of experience.

Of course, you want to know who some of his amazing celebrity clients are. They include Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kerry Washington, and RHONY Kristen Taekman.

If that’s not enough, other celebrity clients that you may have heard of are Sarah Jessica Parker and  Keri Russell. Ttwo of my favorite binge-watching series just happen to be Sex and the City and Felicity (Team Aidan/Team Ben!).

Clients loved Chastain’s signature practice of “product cocktailing”so much that he created PARLOR by Jeff Chastain with the help of Birchbox.

If you’ve been thinking that hair products are getting too complicated, you may want to check out this haircare line. You don’t need a chemistry degree to figure out how to use PARLOR by Jeff Chastain because the line features easy-to-use formulas.

Since the products are designed to work together, they all have the same unisex fragrance: ripe peach, fresh-cut grass, and white woods. For example, if you apply the Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray after shampooing and conditioning to get beachy waves, you won’t smell like a department store fragrance counter.
