Sampling Skincare for the Summer II

2 Jul

Hi beauties! How is your summer going so far?

Last year, I wrote a post about skincare that I was sampling for the summer.

This post is a follow-up to last year’s post, and includes products I picked up at the Beauty Boutique at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip High Shine

If you’re looking for a combination of lipstick and lip gloss, this liquid lip formula delivers a shiny, hydrated look. I tried the Red the News shade, which is a bright, true-red shade. I like the high shine feature, but would prefer a more neutral shade.

Shiseido Rouge Rouge

This lipstick is creamy, moisturizing (yes!), and long-lasting. The shade I received is called Ruby Red, which is a flattering classic red shade. The packaging for the lipstick tube is beautiful and includes a magnetic closure.

Dolce Gabbana Garden Eau de Parfum

This floral eau de parfum is fresh and sweet (very summery). It includes notes of magnolia and mandarin, coconut essence, and almond milk.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair

I’ve reviewed this serum in a previous post, and was happy to get another sample. The serum contains Hyaluronic Acid, which helps to lock in moisture while you sleep.

Don’t expect to see results right away with this serum. It takes a few months before you see any changes.

Benefit Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara

I love the Hook ‘n’ Roll brush on this mascara. It helps to lift lashes and give them a lenghthened look. I also like that the formula contains provitamin B5, which is known for its lash-conditioning benefits.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

If you’re a skincare junkie, you’ve probably tried Dramatically Different Moisturizing Cream at some point. The gel is a lightweight, oil-free version of this iconic skincare. It’s best for oily skins, or you can use it as your light summer moisturizer.

Clarins Pore Control Serum

I’ve reviewed this serum in a previous post. The serum has a light texture, which immediately absorbs into the skin. Besides the long-term results of less visible pores, it also provides an immediate blurring effect.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Anti-Wrinkle Booster Serum

This is an ultra-light gel serum with a blend of fruit stem cells infused into Vitamin C. It also contains resveratrol to help boost and enhance skin tone and texture.

Using the sample, I didn’t see any immediate difference in my skin, but I like that Juice Beauty is an organic skincare option.

Filorga Time-Filler Absolute Wrinkle Correction Cream

Filorga is a luxury French brand that’s been around for 40 years. This cream, which is designed to be an alternative to Botox, has a tripeptide to relax features without freezing facial expressions.

You only have to apply only a small quantity in the morning and/or evening, as it is highly concentrated (this is good because it’s very pricey).

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum

This serum targets wrinkles, sun damage, age spots, and discolouration. Even though it targets many anti-aging symptoms (firmness, tone, and radiance), it’s out of my price range.

Which products are you trying out this summer? Let me know!

Farleyco Spring 2019 Beauty Box 📦

Farleyco Spring 2019 Beauty Box

Hi beauties!

This week, I received a Spring Beauty Box with products that are a perfect lead in to the spring and summer months.

Beauty Box Details

Here’s an overview of the products in the Spring 2019 Beauty Box courtesy of Farleyco, who represents brand names found at major chains and independent drug stores across Canada.

COLAB Dry Shampoo

When the weather gets warmer, I don’t wash my hair as often so a dry shampoo is a must.

One of the best dry shampoos I’ve used is award-winning COLAB Dry Shampoo.

I received a sample of COLAB Extreme Volume Dry Shampoo + which adds body and height while refreshing hair. The formula features a plumping powder that absorbs oil without creating white residue.

You can find COLAB Dry Shampoos at London Drugs, Brunet, Rexall Pharma Plus, Guardian IDA, and farleyco.ca.

Flexitol Anti-Age Hand Balm

After a dry winter, my hands will definitely be part of my spring skincare refresh.

Flexitol Anti-Age Hand Balm is formulated with a unique plant-based ingredient designed to improve skin elasticity and reduce the look of dark age spots. It also moisturizes, hydrates, and protects skin.

You can find Flexitol Skin Care at select Apple Drug Mart, Guardian IDA, PharmaChoice, Proxim, and Value Drug Mart stores.

No Gray Quick Fix

If you want to extend your highlights, No Gray Root Quick Fix comes in an easy-to-use tube with a 3-comb applicator. It lasts until your next shampoo and comes in these shades:

  • Black/Brown
  • Medium Brown
  • Light Brown
So…? Summer Escapes

Instead of applying heavy fragrance during the warmer months, I love a spritz of a body mist.

I received the following light and refreshing mists that smell like a hint of summer:

  • So… Summer Escapes Cali Cool Body Mist (notes of orange and nectarine, progressing into summer fruits of pineapple, mango, and papaya, then topped off with notes of vanilla).
  • So… Summer Escapes Maui Waves Body Mist (fruity notes of lemon, progressing into notes of jasmine and amber).
  • So..? Miami Vibes Body Mist (notes of sweet pear and green melon open up the fragrance, before settling into a floral bouquet of apple blossom).

You can find So…? Body Mists at Pharmasave, Familiprix, Guardian IDA, Pharmachoice, and farleyco.ca.

7th Heaven Masques

7th Heaven is always coming up with unique masque options. Here are a few of their masques that I’m sampling:

  • Charcoal Detox Bubble Mask (yes, this sheet mask bubbles when exposed to air)
  • Charcoal Tonic Mask (with Activated Charcoal to draw out dirt)
  • Passion Peel-Off (with passion flowers)
  • Unclog Pores Mask (a fast-acting hardening mask that doesn’t overdry skin)

You can find 7th Heaven products at London Drugs, Rexall Pharma Plus, Pharmasave, Uniprix, Familiprix, Brunet, and farleyco.ca.

Thanks to Farleyco for all of these samples to kickstart the spring!

Active Natural Skincare: Lavido

7 Jan

Hi beauties!

Since I’ve been hearing a lot about Lavido, a natural face and body care company, I decided to check out two of the brand’s most popular products.

Starting out as a homegrown business, Lavido creates products combining raw, plant-based ingredients and purified mineral-rich waters.

Key ingredients in Lavido products include certified organic essential oils and active natural ingredients.

Replenishing Facial Serum

The Replenishing Facial Serum has a light texture that’s formulated with organic pomegranate seed oil, lemon myrtle, and cold-pressed mandarin oil (the citrus scent 🍋 smells great!).

The serum is designed to aid moisture restoration and retention. Used regularly, it’s clinically proven to show improvement in skin hydration, firmness, and elasticity.

For a healthy glow, I apply the serum as a primer before foundation. You can also combine it with a moisturizer before applying foundation.

Usage: Apply two drops to damp, clean skin in the morning or evening.

Alert Eye Cream

Lavido’s Alert Eye Cream has received a lot of good feedback, including recognition from Elle Magazine as one of the best beauty products for 2016.

My eyes tend to be puffy in the morning, so I was interested in trying a delicate, water-based eye cream.

This vegan-friendly and gluten-free eye cream is made with plant-based hyaluronic acid, cold-pressed avocado and pomegranate seed oils, and citrus extracts that help revive and soothe tired eyes.

So far, I love the light texture and the refreshing feeling around my eyes after I apply this cream! For an extra cooling effect, I leave the cream in the fridge to help quickly deflate eye bags.

Long-term results, based on clinical studies, include an increase in skin firmness and elasticity and smoothness.

Usage: Apply to fingertips and gently pat into the skin around the eye, including the eyelid. Allow to absorb before applying makeup.

Happy New Year, everyone! 🎉🎉🎉
